The Regenerative Medicine and 3D Tissue Modelling team focus on emergent topics in the field of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, biomaterials, stem cells and innovative surgical techniques/tools, in order to enhance the knowledge-driven development of advanced and personalized therapeutic approaches for diverse clinical problems, with emphasis on orthopedics, namely spine-intervertebral disc pathology, tendinopathies, osteosarcoma, osteoarticular infection and arthroplasty, among others.
For this purpose, the team develops basic interdisciplinary and clinical research focused on 4 main research lines:
1) Tissue Regeneration and Replacement;
2) Wound Healing and Trauma Management;
3) Prosthetics and Implants;
4) Tissue/Disease Modelling.
We aim to address unmet clinical needs identified in the clinical practice.
